Government Prepares for Implementation of Contractor Labor Violation Reporting

A quiet announcement from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) last week signified the Obama Administration is moving ahead with the implementation of its “Fair Pay & Safe Workplaces” regulations. The regulations, yet to be finalized, require federal contractors to report any of a broad array of labor violations when bidding for contracts. Many have been concerned that these violations will unfairly target contractors for violations before they have even been settled in court.

The NLRB announcement detailed how the organization will share its list of violations with federal agencies. The sharing of that information will be a key step in moving the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces regulations forward. The final regulation is not expected until August. WIPP provided greater detail and response in its posting to the original regulation.
